Filling Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Supreme Court Seat Would Be A Disastrous Republican Move
If Republicans force a Trump nominee onto the Supreme Court and Democrats sweep the election, bygones won't be bygones. There will be retribution.
Alan: If Trump and McConnell push a nominee through (quite likely an impossible undertaking due to renegade Republican senators who oppose the initiative), Democrats will be joined on Election Day by almost all Libertarians and Independents, resulting in a Blue Tsunami on Election Day.
And then, come January 20th, Democrats will control the Oval Office, The House and The Senate.
Furthermore, they will be sufficiently pissed off to use the perfectly legal mechanism of "packing the court," thus nullifying their current majority.
"Packing the court" would also nullify a Republican Supreme Court majority even if the GOP pushes through a right-wing replacement for Ginsburg.
Saint Teresa of Avila observed: "There are more tears shed over answered prayers than unanswered prayers."
Because this generation of American "conservatives" is unusually opaque to "paradox, irony and unintended consequences," they will likely shoot themselves in the foot - then the abdomen and the heart.
And then, with their last gasp, they will shoot themselves in their empty head.
Go ahead!
I dare you.
