Sadly, some of you will be more upset by my terminology
than the cornerstone reality to which I refer.
If I were Cole Allen, here's how I would defend myself.
The centerpiece of my defense would be that Trump’s cabinet, by failing to invoke the 25th amendment (when Trump is, self-evidently, a Constitution-trashing traitor and a Mad Man), coupled with the Supreme Court’s refusal to rein in Trump before he destroys our democratic republic - constitute crimes against the Constitution; crimes against the American people; and crimes against Justice itself.
The lion's share of Trump's supporters pander to his criminal outrageousness on the grounds that they are "Christians," and therefore consider themselves subject ONLY to the Law of their grotesquely-ideated, mostly Old Testamental Thunder Sky God.
Consequently, they need not offer any allegiance to the Law of Man (often represented as the Law of Caesar)... the Constitution be damned!
For anyone with eyes to see (and I understand that right-wing Denial runs deep), the upshot of Trump's malicious, malevolent, malignant behavior is as plain as Dolly Parton's "show ponies."
Trump is hell-bent on setting up a trans-generational Trump Family Dictatorship, and to that end, he must demolish any and all substantive vestiges of meaningful democratic process.
His Malignancy (aka Malignant Messiah) -- cheered on by his henchpeople -- will window-dress their villainous, anti-American activities "until the cows come home, "or, until Satan overcomes the parapets of heaven - whichever comes last.

Donald Trump is a compulsive liar, cheat, felon, thief (and convicted sex-abuser) who -- metaphor aside -- could teach the Prince of Darkness "a thing or two" about obfuscation, mendacity, and the creation of an impenetrable Fecal Fog that exhausts every responsible citizen by forcing them into Total Exhaustion, a never-ending condition in which they struggle 24/7 just to keep their airways clear.
The so-called "firehose of falsehood" is a century-old Soviet technique for overwhelming anyone who tries to mount long-term resistance to falsehood by persistently championing Truth.
American citizens imbued with the same rebellious, patriotic spirit as the Founding Fathers, know in their bones that Washington and his rebels made it their sworn mission to kill redcoats in order to establish a Democratic Republic.
This generation of American rebels is coming to the realization that it is their moral obligation to plug the treasonous gap opened by Trump’s cabinet and the Supreme Court which serves as Malignant Messiah's lapdog.
And these rebels are increasingly inclined to do so by any means necessary.
Personally, "I do not have much of a dog in this fight, "having long argued that the Revolutionary War was an unnecessary - and bloody - mistake that polluted America's wellspring at its source.

I understand that Cole Allen's conscience could not tolerate Trump's murder and mayhem, and that in Allen's thoughtful mind, he undertook the only remedy he could envision, which was to kill the man who made him an accomplice to mass murder.

Cole Allen's conscience has been violated by a murderous moral burden that Donald Trump has strapped on Cole's back.
Part of the national discussion that Cole Allen's defense might launch would be the right of American "conscientious objectors" to be exempted from paying that portion of their federal tax -- however small it might be -- that is their share of payment to objectionable war efforts like the one in Iran.
In light of U.S. accommodation of conscientious objectors in the past, tax exemption makes good sense. That said, do not hold your breath waiting for relief.
On the other hand, the discussion of such relief would open a door that Uncle Sam will break a sweat trying to keep closed.

No moral subtlety is required to realize Trump's ubiquitous violation of most Americans' personal conscience, and how his cabinet - cheek-by-jowl with the Supreme Court - have imposed "accomplice responsibility" and "accomplice guilt" on Cole Allen, as surely as the rape of underage girls by Trump's Mar-a-Lago buddies has imposed lifelong guilt, shame and calamity on those children.
