Alan: I will end this post with an observation about my friend Karen, a Christian evangelical and unwavering Trump supporter.
It is at least ironic, if not psycho-spiritually catastrophic, that Karen's devotion to Q-Anon led her to ardent belief in "The Storm," a great punitive reckoning that would be unleashed by Donald Trump before the end of his first term, when members of "a secret cabal of murderous, blood-drinking pedophiles (including Hillary Clinton and Tom Hanks)" would be rounded up and punished.

A bit of background...
Ever since I taught high school Spanish to several of Karen's children in the 1990s, I have had a ringside seat to Karen's "pastor shopping" as she tried to find a minister whose church she could "conscionably" attend - a minister who would have impeccable moral charcter, and preach the gospel in a way that resonated with Karen's devotion to Jesus.
Eventually, Karen found such a minister at the First Baptist Church in downtown Hillsborough.
Or, as it turned out, she thought she had found such an impeccable minister. (N.B. I am friends with this minister, Rev. Randy Carter, and can attest to his noteworthy embodiment of Jesus' teaching. In truth, I must say that Randy is a much better human being than I.)
Notably, when Karen realized that Randy was preaching the gospel -- the "Good News!" -- in a way that did not square perfectly with her own painfully precise beliefs, she stopped worshipping at Randy's church, and became her own "teacher," which enabled her to accept only her precise, personal interpretations of Jesus' teaching.
In effect, Karen began pontificating with absolute, self-assigned authority.
Neo-Puritanism And The Quest For Perfection As Frequent Precursor Of Fascism
The following meme has not only general significance, but epitomizes Karen's entrapment by her own personal ideation -- locked (and loaded) into her private ideological silo -- with vanishingly little recourse to any source outside her subjective views on history, politics, theology and every other interpretation of culture.
Karen, like other White "Christian" Nationalists, became her own echo chamber.
