Does Free Will Exist? In My View, "Free Will" Is Narrowly Circumscribed

Rarely, if ever, do we humans behave entirely from free will.
Sadly, what we call "free" will is compromised by background cultural factors, as well as more evident, up-front operant conditioning.
I have a close relative who describes her obesity as "afood addiction."
Hear this well.
Over the course of her life, Jane has lost over a ton (the equivalent of ten two hundred pound men).

And she can adhere to this pattern of behavior because she has no trouble refraining from ALL solid food consumption - even for months at a time.
But when she starts to eat, she is compelled to eat EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.
Sadly -- even tragically -- about half of all humans (at least as currently acculturated) -- have a prior determinative belief in punishment as THE Behavior Modifier, so that they MUST believe that punishment works better than any other "informative" measure, but they believe in "the panacea of punishment" because their view of theology is fundamentally invested in a vengeful, angry, punitive god.
Remove this a priori belief and these folks "lose their religion," which for people who have believed in punishment since birth -- people whose parents ruled with punishment in the forefront -- is an utterly catastrophic outcome. Literally, the worst imaginable outcome.
Lose your religion, and you lose EVERYTHING - your soul included... or so they believe.
Will power exists, but will power is also narrowly circumscribed, way beyond what we have "always" thought (See Comment boxes below.)
