But the alternative is "The Deeper State" (aka "The Shallow State") comprised of incompetent people with one foot in QAnon and the other in the cesspool they dug to replace The Swamp.

Irate allegations concerning The Deep State recall the outrage over pork barrell politics which was the fundamental mechanism that enabled compromise.

Now, Americans tend to be polarized purists.

And in the domain of "too pure principals" it is impossible to get anything done so that the institutions of democracy - however feeble and "sausage making" they may be no loner work at all.
