Dear Elaine,
I know it is popular for American "conservatives" to proclaim they're "proud to be deplorable."
And of course, no one can oblige others to think in context.
Plus, sound thinking is an acquired skill, that cannot manifest "overnight."
But despite the difficulties associated with sound thinking, I believe "thinking in context" is every responsible citizen's obligation. (Make no mistake. Deeply contextualized learning is the only way that "the fullness of Truth" can manifest.)
It may be illuminating, Elaine, to know that three of my five favorite presidents were Republicans; Abraham Lincoln, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt and Dwight D. "Ike" Eisenhower.
But what has happened since The Liar became a "Christian" "conservative" Cult Leader has nothing to do with normalcy.
Somewhere between 30% and 40% of the population have "taken leave of their senses."
It is literally true that they are no longer "compos mentis."

Although individuals and societies will collapse, as night follows day, if they disregard rudimentary truths, every American should have had enough sense to shun Trump from the moment he launched his 2015 presidential campaign on the back of conspiratorial "birtherism."

Can We Talk? "Most Stupid People Are Conservative"
Here's the deal, Elaine.
It is a fact that there are stupid people in this world.
Lots of them.
There are also ignorant people (i.e., defined as people who deliberately ignore or stonewall truth).
There are lots of such ignorant people.
The "point" - and this may be the dividing point between "stupid" and "smart" people - is that one can choose to abandon ignorance, and, as an alternative, become educated.
I don't know where you lie on this spectrum.
I don't know where I lie on this spectrum.
But I do know that if we continue on Trump Cult's trajectory, American democracy will soon be toast -- only flags, bumper stickers and jingoism left behind as macabre reminders of the once great American experiment.
I'm not trying to insult anyone, Elaine.
I am trying to engage a serious discussion about what appears the pending demise of democracy, now in a moribund state because so many citizens got suckered by an arrogant, cruel, whore-mongering world class liar who also taught them to be selfish and cruel.
Furthermore, I am trying to engage this discussion as a well-educated person. But since you may disagree with this assessment -- or find my assessment arrogant -- let me say that assiduous study throughout my 75 year lifetime (including 9 years at university on three continents) has left me with the firm belief that I know at least as much as Trump supporters who make the following claims:
"The Daily Show's" Jordan Klepper Probes The Likelihood Of Civil War
Please watch Klepper's interviews, and let me know what you think.
Or, as is perhaps more likely, let me know why you won't watch Klepper's interviews, nor tell me what you think.
I will close by saying (as I often do to my right-wing friends) that anythine -- ANYTHING -- you would like me to print on my blog or circulate among all my friends is an option always available to you.
Why, I wonder, is my offer NEVER met with reciprocity?

Dear Elaine,Yes, the Vatican has a wall.Francis didn't build it.Nor does Francis have any wall-building plans. And if he did, I would call him out on it.If we hope to save the nation, it will be necessary to think in rich context - which is the only way "the fullness of truth" is revealed.Unless Truth Is Richly Contextualized, It Is Likely That Uneducated, Ideologically-Driven People (Who Never Learned How To Think In Context), Will Use Fragmented Shards Of Truths To Tell Colossal Lies
The honest pursuit of Truth is not about clever quips and "gotcha retorts."Indeed, cleverness is often a way to circumvent substantive Truth.Or, to put it another way, cleverness and wisdom are often in opposition to one another.Wishing you all good things,Alan
