In general, I think the Republican Party has a much more effective propaganda machine, in large part due to its mastery of "issue simplification" -- simplification that seldom corresponds to more thoughtful, more substantively truthful, positions -- positions that are easily consolidated in tight, simplistic - and often simple-minded - sound bites.
