In recent years, when I stumble upon Bertrand Russell, I admire - ever more - the clarity of his thought.

Just now, perusing Russell's Wikiquote page, I found this:
There lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge, and wisdom. Shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? We appeal as human beings to human beings: Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. If you can do so, the way lies open to a new Paradise; if you cannot, there lies before you the risk of universal death.
The Russell-Einstein Manifesto (1955)
Last night, I put together a few links for my lifelong friend Jimbo with whose family
Cynthia and I reside when we visit my home town, Irondequoit-Rochester, New York.
When I awoke this morning, I thought it might be fun "for the educator in you" to
ponder my "experiment." (Who, by the way, are the first 3 people who come to mind
when you think about "notable humans" you'd like to know more about?)
I must also say that the two quotes by Carl Sagan -- one about "the bamboozle," the other a prophecy about our "demon-haunted world" -- are both impressive.

I'm looking forward to Friday.
Please say "hey" to Amy for me!

PS When I refer to "saving conservative Christians from themselves," I mean that
"conservative" "Christian" "demographic" described by Stephen Colbert (a practicing
Catholic) in last night's monologue. You can trash the rest of this email, Whitney,
but DO NOT MISS Stephen's rap: https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=koPmZ0VSUk8
