"An Ounce Of Truth Is Worth A Pound Of Opinion": What Do Elaine K, Ezra Pound And Thomas Aquinas Have To Do With It?

Dear E,

Thanks for sending Ezra Pound's quotation.

Ezra Pound was a vituperative anti-Semite and a fascist who "embraced Mussolini and supported Hitler." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezra_Pound

Here is how I would re-state Pound's quotation: "If a man isn’t willing to take a risk in supporting the preponderant evidence of Science, either he is no good, or he’s up to no good.”

The essential heresy of our time is that opinion trumps truth.

As the greatest Doctor of the Church, Thomas Aquinas, pointed out back in the 13th century A.D., it doesn't.
