Here is the original right wing complaint: https://www.facebook.com/sonny.underwood.3/posts/10208380687510521
Here is my reply to the twittish grievance:
Alan: Two months and two days ago -- nearly two months before this good ol' boy got his 15 minutes of fame -- the New York Times did a thorough report on Chinese political and commercial activity in Jamaica. The longer I live the more convinced I am that substantive truth resides in full contextualization, not in the "raw facts" (important as they may be). World trade is world trade. And according to the rules of Capitalism, sovereign nations like China and Jamaica have the right to trade freely with other sovereign nations. Notably, American businessmen have invested untold billions in Vietnam and other countries bordering China. And while the GOB (good ol' boy) in the Facebook video (above) spends considerable time badmouthing liberals, he does not mention that Trump and Pompeo have been in charge of American foreign policy for the last four years. ' So, the mainstream media did not drop the ball but has been reporting this story for months, and - furthermore - is covering it better than the Facebook rapper's pals in Oklahoma. Here is how capitalism works: Since Trump gets to "build his towers" wherever the hell he wants, the Chinese get to do the same with the placement of their construction projects. Consider this revealing list of Trump's' overseas business locations, including ten INSIDE China. https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2019/06/trump-foreign-business-interests/ Personally, I have more faith that China will act in good faith than Trump will. Trump is "in it" for himself, ONLY himself whereas the Chinese realize -- for themselves and for their nation's interest -- that the easiest fortunes are made by trading. And so they like to trade their way to prosperity. One might say the Chinese motto is: "Make money, not war." Furthermore, the Chinese are smart enough to understand what the United States learned the hard way in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan: "To the spoils belongs the victor." Except for re-appropriation of land that has been part of the Chinese land mass for centuries (if not millennia), the Chinese are not interested in "taking over" other polities and thus provoking the headache of trying to administer another nation in another hemisphere. That kind of antiquated "swashbuckling" is way too expensive and nowhere near as profitable as just creating alliances with other sovereign nations, then building whatever infrastructure is needed to turn an even bigger profit than imperialism - and without the nightmare hassle of getting bogged down in attempts to build a physical empire with tremendous loss of blood and treasure. As for the Bahamas, Forbes magazine - a bastion of mainstream media - has been reporting on it since May, 2019. https://www.forbes.com/sites/bradthomas/2019/05/29/china-is-cashing-in-on-this-piece-of-paradise-just-40-miles-from-palm-beach/?sh=5a084c86188a You won't find any "right-wing" "news" source that reported on Chinese involvement in the Bahamas and Jamaica before the mainstream media did. These right-wingers are so randomly dimwitted that they parasitize the mainstream media to "get their stories," and then have the brass balls (just like SOBMF in the White House) to claim the mainstream media is not reporting on these subjects. Mingya!
