A Woman's Simple Statement At The Capitol Insurrection - "I Think Anything Is Possible" - Is The Cornerstone Of Trump Cult's Self-Righteous Sedition

(Alan: I posted the following on a seditionist friend's Facebook.) In the following Late Show clip shot during last week's deadly, anti-police insurrection, a crucial statement is uttered at the 1:16 mark: "I think anything is possible."

Jordan Klepper Sees It All at The Capitol Insurrection | The Daily Show

Once a person drapes everything with a comprehensive "veil of doubt," there is no longer any appeal to rationality as a touchstone of truth.

When recourse to Reason is discarded as the best everyday mechanism for determining Truth, the alternative is to resort to whatever interpretation of Reality each individual "feels" to be true.

And when people establish "feelings" as the primary criteria for determining Truth, visceral rage is "just around the corner"... or, it is equally well-put to say that "visceral rage is just at the top of the Capitol steps."

In the absence of Reason, not only does each individual invest himself/herself with intracranial authorization to decide WHATEVER they consider true.

Simultaneously, they disdain the most dependable method we humans have for discerning Truth - The Scientific Method.

Furthermore, the bedrock reason why Trump cultists discard The Scientific Method is 1.) to protect their fragile belief systems (by not using Reason in any way that could challenge them, 2.) to defend their ignorance, and 3.) to promote the hubris of solipsism and its consequence.

In a word, they apotheosize themselves.
Ask yourself this question:
How would these "epistemological cheaters" react if someone asked: "Do you think it's possible that the bible is not the inerrant word of God?" For a moment, their new conditioned reflex will be to say: "I think anything is possible."

And then they will realize (or at least "get an inkling") of the trap they've set for themselves for Trump cult "Christian" "conservatives" have fallen into an epistemological frame of mind that also disproves the presumptuous certainty of their religious beliefs. When nothing is considered true but one's self-interested beliefs, the door is thrown wide to attitudinal chaos and behavioral monstrosity. Voltaire nailed it: "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

Sure, Trump Cult "Christian" "conservatives" are still welcome to subscribe to their religious beliefs, but now they must see those "beliefs" as beliefs, and not provable "certainties."

Alan: From lack of intelligence, lack of learning, lack of insight, or plain ol' malice-malevolence, Trump and his cultists do not understand that the erosion of trust in constitutionally-mandated political institutions contributes mightily to the degradation -- if not the collapse -- of Democracy itself.

All human values are based on beliefs, and given that there is one unique view adhered to by each and every human being, Democracy's view is to tolerate as many law-abiding views as possible.

Trump Cult "conservative" "Christians" believe they are absolutely right and everyone else is an infidel whose beliefs represent diabolical rebellion against the one, true God. And therefore, when the values supposedly embodied by the one, true God are offended by "the infidels," they not only can be eliminated, but should be eliminated. And from there, it's just a hop, skip and jump to: "The MUST be eliminated."

French philosopher Simone Weil cuts to the quick with this illuminating observation: “Evil when we are in its power is not felt as evil but as a necessity, or even a duty. ”

20th century intellectual titan, Hannah Arendt -- who attended the Nuremberg Trials and coined the phrase "the banality of evil" -- has a lock-tight grip on this corrosive political process.

Here's how it unfolds...
