UN Treaty For The Total Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Is Now Just 4 Nations Away From Making Nuclear Weapons "Completely Illegal Under International Law"

The Ban Treaty Will Fundamentally Change the Game

Recently, Malaysia ratified the C. This means the TPNW now has 46 states parties and only needs 4 more ratifications to trigger its entry into force! When the treaty enters into force (90 days after hitting 50), nuclear weapons will become completely illegal under international law, and this will help strengthen the stigma around nuclear weapons. Just like with chemical weapons and land mines, having the treaty in place will increase the pressure on companies and governments to ensure they are on the right side of the law, and of the public debate.

Learn more about the important fight for the Total Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in this interview with Dr. Tilman Ruff of IPPNW & ICAN with the topic of "the Ban Treaty has fundamentally changed the game."

Hitting that 50-state mark is a huge achievement for our movement, but our work won’t be over.
