"Politics is war by other means." - character of LBJ in film "All the Way" 2016.
"He who is skilled in war subdues the enemy without fighting." - Sun Tzu, The Art of War, III.2
"Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends?" - Lincoln
It will be a long process. In the meantime, I recommend this which could be called, "When 'what to think'* replaces 'how to think'," but "AMERICAN PSYCHOSIS | Chris Hedges" is the title. It's only 14 minutes long. https://youtu.be/o_Vgnw21uqc
*(happy, happy, happy) since our corporate masters will brook no pessimism. Pessimism leads to thinking, and they can't have that.
Like just about everything Biden says these days, his "support" for fracking is strongly qualified: **IF** they can stop leakage into the atmosphere of methane, etc. That's effectively a nonstarter. 50% of the 1.8 million petroleum wells in the world leak into the atmosphere, and 5% immediately when first built. Fracked wells have worse stats, and that's supposed to be how we're to get all the new "clean gas" Big Oil is touting. We know they lie. ("clean coal"? come...on...) And, still, gas is a fossil fuel dumping more CO2 into the air, already at twice its atmospheric concentration in 1800.
We shouldn't hold our breath. "Steady as she goes" beats "crash and burn" for the working class with 1/4 million dead. Still, "HOPE" need not be an illusion. Biden, as a conventional liberal, has changed his positions many times, upgrading as newly informed opinion and new facts come under his increasingly aged focus. Our collective enterprise of liberal democracy has always required nothing less than that, from those who claim to lead it. The DP platform is more progressive than his traditional positions, yet he says he supports it, all. He will not be up to implementing it without considerable help, but delegating, and deferring, to the more informed and able is within his recently demonstrated capacity to manage.
PS, everyone thought the Emperor Claudius was dim b/c he was crippled and stuttered badly. That was a mistake. "Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out," he's purported to have said...before he cleaned house.
