Two Full Years Of American History Taught Dialectically Is The Swiftest, Surest Path To Restoration Of Social And Political Health In The American Body Politic

Thomas Jefferson quote: Enlighten the people generally, and ...
Alan: The quickest way to restore social and political health to the frayed body politic of the United States is to require two full years of American history as a pre-requisite for high school graduation.
Both years would be taught dialectically with comprehensive course packs that examine every major theme and topic in American history, with wide-ranging writings chosen from scholars and researchers across the political spectrum.
To insure balance, "right wing" and "left wing" groups would be in charge of determining an equal number of pages for each "faction's" contribution to the written curriculum.
This process itself would be illuminating for the adults who participate.
All student essays and examinations will require the ability to marshal arguments from both ends of the spectrum; to compare, contrast and synthesize.
Now, watch this!
The "right side of the aisle" will dig in its heels and ferociously oppose this educational/curricular proposal because in their hearts, they know that when fully-contextualized truth is brought to light, the essence of their flimsy, mostly ritual understanding of American history will not bear scrutinous examination.
After two years of exhaustive dialectical study, I believe chauvinism, jingoism, platitudinousness and the glib belief that the United States is the most exceptional - and divinely-ordained - country on earth will give way to the contrary findings of careful, wide-scope examination.
After two years of exhaustive study, I fully expect the unquestioning worldview of blinkered Americans to collapse and shatter - to fall off the edge of their flat world.
"Human nature with all its infirmities and depravation is still capable of great things... Education makes a greater difference between man and man, than nature has made between man and brute."

Unless Truth Is Richly Contextualized, It Is Likely That Uneducated, Ideologically-Driven People (Who Never Learned How To Think In Context), Will Use Fragmented Shards Of Truths To Tell Colossal Lies
