What Happens If Trump "Wins" By An Electoral Coup?

Pax on both houses: "The United States Of Education And Compassion ...

Alan: As I have argued for months, it is clear that Trump and Pence's term of office is over on January 20.It is also clear that, if there are no validated election results by that date, the constitutional line of succession makes Nancy Pelosi president.

  • So glad you are so sure of the election. I am not! Drive to eastern NC and look at the signs....

    • Often, I don't pick up on the many ways "voice-to-text" mangles my Facebook introductions until someone like you causes me to review what I've written.

In any event, my introduction to this post now reads as it should.

To be clear, I am not sure how this November's election will turn out. In 2016, the last door I knocked on as a Hillary campaign worker resulted in an earful from a black woman who was voting for Trump next day, a person who could not understand how ANYONE could vote for Clinton. (An interesting datum about Clinton and the Republican "Noise Machine": In 2013, Hillary was the most popular politician in America. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-politics-clinton/hillary-clinton-most-popular-u-s-politician-poll-shows-idUSBRE9170NZ20130208)

In the Big Picture, the demise of our shared fiction that we live in the "United" States of America may be a good thing.

"Is It Time For Red States And Blue States To Collaborate On The Creation Of Two Nations?"
Even so, the electoral map now gives Michigan and Pennsylvania to Biden and -- astonishingly -- Florida, Ohio and Texas are among half a dozen dependably red states that are now "in play" - with Biden leading.
Can you imagine any state that voted for Hillary in 2016 voting for Trump in 2020?
Of course, Trump is capable of any Goddamn thing - the least of which is a fabricated electoral coup,
However, if such an egregious outcome manifests, I don't think we've heard the last from American generals and admirals, many of whom are cut from the same cloth as Mattis, Kelly and McMaster.
