Trump Says Republicans Would "Never" Be Elected Again If It Was Easier To Vote
The Guardian
“I don’t want everybody to vote,” Paul Weyrich, an influential conservative activist, said in 1980. “As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
For nearly half a century, the seriously-compromised viability of Republican candidates (unless they cheat, starting with Dali-esque gerrymandering) has been a known fact.
I repeat, a known fact.
It is true that rank-and-file Republicans are seldom aware of this fact - and are often too dimwitted to understand it.
But GOP leadership is fully aware and will take any measure necessary to deprive predictably-Democratic constituencies of their voting franchise.
It's who they are.
It's what they do.

At bedrock, this savaging of honorable democratic process is a matter of Republican survival, even if the creature that survives is a cross between a "Body Snatcher" and "Dorian Gray's picture in the attic."
Since the Republican Party cannot survive without doing violence to democratic process, they attack, oppose and dismantle honorable institutions, generally behaving like cornered animals, with no choice but to do anything to survive.

Alan: The GOP's most recent "dirty tricks" as they relate to November's election are Republican opposition to mail-in voting (which is how Trump and Melania themselves vote), and Post Office debilitation/crippling (preferably resulting in the PO's elimination) so that those mail-in ballots which do get cast may not arrive at the Board of Elections in timely fashion.
