My Favorite Rock And Pop Songs (With Hyperlinked YouTube Videos)

Image result for rock and roll rolling stones tongue

Caribou,

I just discovered the following unpublished blog post in my 2013 archive.

Have no idea how many of these links are still current.

This list was created before I started singing with "19 Miles From Davis" and it would be interesting to see how that experience might chance my preferences.

Surely many new songs would be added - and at least some would get bumped.

Shooter Jennings' "4th Of July" would be one addition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_tS3NcdFT0

PS Currently I would prioritize this version of "Bells of Rhymney." http://paxonbothhouses.blogspot.mx/2017/10/the-bells-of-rhymney-by-chris-hillman.html

Dear Danny,

Here are more candidates for your Spotify rock-and-roll list.

I'm sure there are a few you've already included.

Love

Dman

PS See if you can figure out how to email me your existing play list. Thanks!

I wish there were a YouTube post of "Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits," but Dylan anthologies don't stay on the web long before they're disabled. In 'popular music," there's pre-Dylan and post-Dylan. As a post-Dylan guy, I think he's The Seminal Influence. Here's a pretty good Top 50 List. http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Rashomon/top_50_songs_by_bob_dylan/ In addition to Rolling Stone and Tambourine Man, I'm partial to Desolation Row, Hurricane, Visions of Johanna, Lay Lady Lay, Gotta Serve Somebody, Slow Train Coming, Just Like a Woman, Positively 4th Street, All Along the Watch Tower, Mozambique and Knocking on Heaven's Door.

"Knocking On Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm9coqlk8fY

Stuck Inside Of Mobile With Te Memphis Blues Again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kh6K_-a0c4

Mark Knopfler's cover of Knocking on Heaven's Door - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgAoe1o2134  (Check out Knopfler's guitar work on Postcard From Paraguay - 2007 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXXemzIo1ao)

And here's Dylan's new interactive "Rolling Stone" video issued on the 48th anniversary of the song's debut. http://www.complex.com/music/2013/11/bob-dylan-like-a-rolling-stone-video

A big brick home containing the Pakistani owner's dental office and several "bed sitters.")

Have You Ever Seen The Rain - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu2pVPWGYMQ

Boo: Here is a list of hyperlinked songs I sent to Maria as suggestions for possible inclusion on a CD I'd like to produce with her. I have decided not to remove songs from Maria's list which duplicate songs in your "dedicated" email above.

Dear Maria,

The other night, Dan played your recent studio session with Ben, not telling me beforehand the name of the vocalist.

Your performance of "Grace Like Rain" is brilliant!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1BsnrPHcV4

When you get back from New Zealand, I would really like to "produce" a record with you.

In addition to recording your "music theater favorites," I am beginning to compile a list of songs for your consideration.

Will You Love Me Tomorrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2khQJGdnFE

Say It With Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNNmO1YITyQ (I don't think this song will work for your voice but I think you'll like it anyhow.)

I'm In A Hurry And Don't Know Why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHVV7QCOmDU (This song is probably not suited to your voice and style but I'd love to seeyou cut loose on it.)

Child of the Wind (I sang this at Grampa's 80th birthday party): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp6czLE8Ucg Lyrics: http://www.cockburnproject.net/
